Central Ministers Applaud Zoho’s Innovation
In a notable move to champion indigenous technology, the Indian government has been actively promoting Zoho Corporation, a homegrown software company. Several key union ministers have recently expressed public support for Zoho’s products, urging citizens and institutions to adopt its suite of services. Among these products is Arattai, Zoho’s ambitious competitor to WhatsApp, which is also receiving increasing attention.
Home Minister Amit Shah Embraces Zoho Mail
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce his official transition to Zoho Mail. In his post, he revealed his new email address — amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in — and requested that all future correspondence be directed to this ID.
What caught many observers’ attention, however, was the phrasing of his final line: “Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.” This line has gained recognition as a phrase frequently used by former US President Donald Trump in his public communications on the same platform.
Zoho and Sridhar Vembu Respond Gratefully
Following Amit Shah’s endorsement, Zoho Workplace replied with gratitude, emphasizing that such support from the nation’s top leadership reinforces confidence in Indian innovation. In a separate message, Zoho’s founder, Sridhar Vembu, also extended his appreciation. Tagging the Home Minister in his post, Vembu dedicated the moment to the engineers and developers who have tirelessly contributed to Zoho’s growth over the past two decades.
Zoho: From Bengaluru Roots to Global Reach
Founded by Sridhar Vembu, Zoho is headquartered in Bengaluru and has grown into a formidable force in the global tech ecosystem. The company provides over 45 software products and services, many of which are designed specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Arattai and the Rise of Indian Alternatives
Among Zoho’s most talked-about products is Arattai, a secure instant messaging platform aimed at rivaling WhatsApp. With rising concerns over data privacy and digital sovereignty, Arattai is increasingly being seen as a credible Indian alternative in the messaging space.
Competing with Tech Giants: Zoho vs Google and Microsoft
Zoho directly competes with global tech giants like Microsoft and Google, offering similar productivity tools at significantly lower prices. From document editors to presentation software, Zoho provides powerful, user-friendly alternatives to MS Word and PowerPoint, making it a cost-effective solution for businesses.
The Zoho Workplace suite encompasses nearly every digital tool a company might need—from file management and internal communication to billing systems and customer service platforms. Its affordability and wide-ranging utility make it an attractive choice for startups and growing enterprises.
Expanding into Fintech: Zoho’s New POS System
Further expanding its product line, Zoho has recently launched a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine that rivals offerings from Paytm and PhonePe. This device features a built-in Soundbox and QR code payment system, marking Zoho’s official entry into India’s competitive digital payments ecosystem. Consumers and merchants may soon notice Zoho-branded QR codes and terminals at retail outlets across the country.
