Former MP Dhananjay Singh shifted from Jaunpur to Bareilly jail, court sentenced him to seven years imprisonment

Former MP Dhananjay Singh has been shifted from Jaunpur District Jail to Bareilly Jail. He was lodged in Jaunpur district jail since March 6. The court had sentenced seven years in the case of extortion and kidnapping.

Former MP and muscleman Dhananjay Singh was shifted from Jaunpur District Jail to Bareilly Jail at 8 am on Saturday. According to the police, he has been shifted on the orders of the government. Dhananjay was lodged in Jaunpur district jail since March 6. Dhananjay Singh was sentenced by the court of Judge Sharad Chand Tripathi in the kidnapping and extortion case. Plaintiff Abhinav Singhal had filed an FIR of kidnapping and extortion against two people including former MP Dhananjay Singh at Line Bazar police station on May 10, 2020.

After this the police arrested both of them and sent them to jail. In this case, he remained lodged in the district jail for three months. After this, former MP Dhananjay Singh got bail. The police investigated the case and filed the charge sheet in the court within three months.

The court had framed charges against Dhananjay and his associate on April 2, 2022. After this, after 130 dates of hearing, on March 5, 2023, two including Dhananjay were found guilty. After this, the sentence was pronounced on March 6, 2024. Superintendent of Police Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma said that this action has been taken as per the orders of the government.
