South Africa Women Eye Series Sweep Before World Cup

Posted on September 22, 2025September 22, 2025 By Sorit Chaudhary

With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup on the horizon, South Africa Women have chosen to bat first after winning the toss in the third and final One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan Women. This match marks the conclusion of the ODI series, which South Africa has already claimed by securing victories in the first two games.

Dominant South Africa Eyes Clean Sweep

Having comfortably won the first two encounters, South Africa will be looking to wrap up the series with a 3-0 whitewash. Their strong all-round performances have kept them ahead throughout the tour, while Pakistan will aim to salvage pride with a morale-boosting win before the World Cup campaign begins.

Pakistan Seeks Redemption on Home Soil

Despite strong batting displays in both prior matches, Pakistan’s bowling unit has struggled to contain the South African batters on the batting-friendly surfaces of Lahore. In the first ODI, South Africa successfully chased down a target of 256. In the second, even a solid total of 287 by Pakistan wasn’t enough, as the visitors secured victory by 25 runs via the DLS method.

A Crucial Dress Rehearsal Ahead of the World Cup

This final ODI holds significance beyond just the series. With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup set to commence in India and Sri Lanka later this month, both sides will use this clash as a critical preparation opportunity. Pakistan will be aiming to build momentum, while South Africa looks to sustain their winning rhythm heading into the global tournament.
