Nissan Motors will Continue Indian Operations, Will Roll Three New Cars
Nissan Motor India Committed to Market, Targets 100,000 Units in Domestic Sales and Exports by FY 2026-27
Nissan Motor India has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian market, dispelling rumors of its exit. Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa stated that the company remains dedicated to its product roadmap, which includes launching three new models between early 2026 and early 2027.
New Model Launches
The upcoming models will include:
- An MPV in the first quarter of 2026
- A five-seater SUV by mid-2026
- A seven-seater SUV in early 2027
Sales and Export Targets
Vatsa expressed confidence in Nissan’s brand equity, which he believes will drive stronger sales once the new models are introduced. The company is targeting annual domestic sales and exports of 100,000 units each by FY 2026-27. Despite having a single car portfolio, Nissan has consistently sold around 30,000 units annually over the past five years.
Dealer Network Expansion
Nissan plans to add around 20 new dealerships this year, taking its total outlet count to approximately 180 by the end of the year. The company has seen interest from new partners due to its growing product portfolio and multiple powertrain options.
Performance Update
In FY 2024-25, Nissan’s domestic sales decreased by 7.5% year-on-year to 27,881 units, while exports increased by 65.9% year-on-year to 71,334 units. With its new product launches and expansion plans, Nissan is poised for growth in the Indian market.
