
Explosion at Fireworks Factory in Punjab’s Muktsar Claims Four Lives, 27 Injured
Muktsar, Punjab – A devastating explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in the Singhewala-Fatoohiwala village of Muktsar district late Thursday night, resulting in the deaths of four workers and injuring around 27 others. The injured have been referred to AIIMS Bathinda for treatment.
Factory Details and Investigation
The factory, where fireworks were manufactured under the supervision of contractor Raj Kumar from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras, suffered a massive blast around 12:30 AM, causing two floors to collapse. The contractor has gone missing since the incident. The site revealed boxes of ready-made fireworks and empty boxes from the Carsar company.
Rescue Operations and Response
Upon receiving information, SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary, SP (D) Manmeet Singh, DSP Jaspal Singh, and SHO Karamjit Kaur reached the scene. The Dera Sacha Sauda’s Green S Force volunteers are actively involved in the rescue operations, using a hydro machine to clear the debris.
Casualties and Injuries
Preliminary reports confirm four fatalities, with three bodies recovered from the debris. Around 27 workers have been injured, and relief operations are underway. The factory employed approximately 40 workers in two shifts, mostly from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Authorities’ Response
SSP Dr. Akhil Chaudhary confirmed the deaths and stated that the injured have been hospitalized. A thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the explosion and subsequent actions.
