Duan Jansen produced a career-defining T20 performance as Joburg Super Kings clinched a memorable 22-run victory over Pretoria Capitals in the second match of Betway SA20 Season 4 on Saturday. The win marked Joburg’s first-ever triumph at Centurion against their Highveld rivals in four seasons, making it a landmark moment for the franchise.

Jansen’s Match-Winning Spell Turns the Game

The contest was dominated by disciplined bowling, with Player of the Match Duan Jansen delivering exceptional figures of 4 for 23. His relentless left-arm pace tore through the Pretoria Capitals’ middle order at a crucial stage of the chase, swinging momentum firmly in favor of the visitors.

Pretoria Capitals appeared well on course while chasing 168 after a solid 71-run opening partnership between Will Smeed, who scored 34 off 30 balls, and Bryce Parsons, who struck 41 from 30 deliveries. By the 12th over, the Capitals had moved comfortably to 86 for 2 and looked in control of the run chase.

Middle-Order Collapse Seals Capitals’ Fate

The turning point came when Janco Smit dismissed Dewald Brevis, silencing the Centurion crowd and igniting a dramatic collapse. From a position of strength, the Capitals lost five wickets for just 28 runs, with Jansen leading the charge.

Jansen had already made an early impact by removing Shai Hope in his opening spell. He then returned to claim the key wicket of Bryce Parsons before clean bowling Connor Esterhuizen and Daniel Smith, effectively ending the Capitals’ resistance and sealing a famous win for Joburg.
