Chandigarh Boxing Association Hosts Sub-Junior State Tournament

The Chandigarh Boxing Association organized a Sub-Junior State Boxing Tournament for boys and girls at the Sector 42 Boxing Stadium on July 26, 2025. The tournament saw participation from several schools and academies across the city, including children from slum areas who are part of the Apna Hunar Sanstha.

The children from Apna Hunar Sanstha, who are trained for free by Coach Anand, showcased their skills and talent in the tournament. Out of the 8 children who participated, 7 won medals, including 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.

The winners from Apna Hunar Sanstha included Mahi, who won a gold medal in her category, Manjot Kaur, who won a gold medal in the 52-54 weight category, Harshita Gupta, who won a gold medal in the 58-60 weight category, and Yuvraj Singh and Shivam Yadav, who won silver medals. Rashi won a bronze medal in her category.

Sonia Duggal, President of Apna Hunar Sanstha, expressed her pride and happiness at the children’s achievement. She stated that all the children who participated in the tournament are from the Maloya colony and are trained for free by the sanstha. The sanstha’s aim is to provide these children with an opportunity to showcase their talent and make a name for themselves in the sports world.

The tournament was a great success, and the children from Apna Hunar Sanstha proved that with hard work and dedication, they can achieve great things. The sanstha’s efforts to provide free training to children from slum areas are truly commendable, and their achievements are a testament to the power of sports to change lives.
