Zirakpur Faces Huge Jam of Traffic Due to Shambhu Protest
Zirakpur, February 24 – The closure of the Shambhu barrier, a key route connecting Delhi to Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, has led to severe traffic congestion in Zirakpur, causing inconvenience to daily commuters and affecting local businesses.
The Shambhu barrier has been closed for nearly a year due to the ongoing farmers’ protest, forcing traffic to divert through Zirakpur, resulting in chronic congestion on the city’s roads. The situation is exacerbated during peak hours, with commuters facing lengthy delays and frustration.
The closure has not only affected daily commuters but also local businesses, which are struggling to cope with the loss of productivity and revenue. Residents are also bearing the brunt of the congestion, with many complaining about the stress and fatigue caused by the daily traffic jams.
Despite efforts by local traffic police to manage the flow of traffic, the situation remains grim. The police have advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and explore alternative routes to avoid the congestion at Patiala Chowk and Panchkula Light Point.
In a bid to mitigate the situation, the local administration has deployed additional security personnel to assist traffic police in managing the flow of traffic. However, a long-term solution is needed to address the issue and restore normalcy to the city’s roads.
The Shambhu barrier closure has highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and traffic management in the region. Until a solution is found, commuters and residents will continue to bear the brunt of the congestion, underscoring the need for urgent action to address this critical issue.
