India, five-time champions of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup, have officially revealed their squad for the 2026 edition set to be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The team will be led by captain Ayush Mhatre, with Vihaan Malhotra, a promising batting all-rounder, appointed as his deputy. India has been drawn into Group B, where they will face New Zealand, USA, and Bangladesh.

Performance at U19 Asia Cup
The team recently participated in the U19 Asia Cup, finishing as runners-up after a defeat to Pakistan in the final.
- Aaron George, the 19-year-old top-order batter, was India’s highest run-scorer with 228 runs.
- Deepesh Devendran, 17, led the bowling attack with nine wickets.
- Vaibhav Sooryavanshi drew attention with his all-round abilities.
- Abhigyan Kundu, the 17-year-old wicket-keeper batter, emerged as a star with an unbeaten 209 off 125 balls* against Malaysia, featuring 17 boundaries and nine sixes, helping India secure a 315-run victory.
Injury Updates and Squad Changes
Ahead of a three-match ODI series against South Africa, India will be without Ayush Mhatre and Vihaan Malhotra, who are recovering from injuries. Both players will remain at the BCCI Centre of Excellence for rehabilitation before joining the World Cup squad.
Additionally, India have made two changes from the Asia Cup squad, with Yuvraj Gohil and Naman Pushpak replaced by R.S. Ambrish and Mohamed Enaan.

India will begin their World Cup journey against the USA on 15th January at Queen’s Sports Club, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
