The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has suspended the affiliation of G D Goenka High School, Sohna, Gurugram, for the academic session 2026-27 following serious violations of affiliation norms. The decision comes after inspections revealed significant concerns regarding campus safety and infrastructure sharing.
Infrastructure Sharing Concerns
During the CBSE inspection, it was observed that the school was sharing its premises with two other institutions without proper segregation or a permanent boundary wall. Multiple educational entities were found operating on different floors of the same building, including a university program on the top floor.
Risks to Student Safety
CBSE highlighted that a shared campus without adequate physical segregation poses potential risks to students. These include exposure to bullying, harassment, and unwarranted interaction with students from other institutions. The Board emphasized that schools must maintain fully secured campuses inaccessible to outsiders to protect students.
Official CBSE Statement
The CBSE order stated, “A school campus shared with other institutions without proper demarcation or boundary walls exposes students to potential risks. It is imperative that schools maintain a campus that is fully secured and not accessible to outsiders.”
Duty of Schools
The Board reiterated that every school is responsible for taking corrective measures to ensure student safety. In the case of G D Goenka High School, the institution was unable to segregate the shared infrastructure promptly, prompting strict action from CBSE.
CBSE’s Orders and Directives
To address the violations and secure a safe learning environment, CBSE has issued the following orders for G D Goenka High School:
- The school’s affiliation is suspended for one year (2026-27) to allow proper separation of its infrastructure.
- No admissions will be permitted for Classes 9 and 11 during the suspension period.
- Students already enrolled in Classes 9 to 12 may continue their education in the same school.
- The school must ensure complete safety of students and comply strictly with CBSE norms and Affiliation Bye-Laws.
- All other institutions must be removed from the campus, and the building and playground must be exclusively for G D Goenka High School students. Separate entry and exit points from the main road are mandatory.
- A six-foot-high concrete boundary wall must be constructed around the entire campus.
- The school must not share any infrastructure or staff with other institutions.
- A Composite Science Laboratory must be established as per CBSE norms, and all records must be maintained according to Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018 and other relevant CBSE directives.
Zero Tolerance Message
CBSE’s action serves as a warning to other schools violating affiliation norms, signaling a strict zero-tolerance approach toward compromising student safety and infrastructure standards.
