MDU Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh honours cricketer Aditi Sheoran with “Sports Excellence Award”
Chandigarh, 19 January – Haryana’s rising young cricketer Aditi Sheoran has been conferred the “Sports Excellence Award” by Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak for her outstanding achievements in cricket. The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the North Zone Inter‑University Women’s Cricket Tournament, organized by MDU’s Sports Department .
Prof. Rajbir Singh, Vice‑Chancellor of MDU, praised Aditi as a role model for the state’s daughters, noting that at a very young age she has combined talent with determination to achieve multiple milestones. He added that MDU is working to make college and university education and hostel facilities free for such promising athletes .
Guest of honour Dr. Sharanjit Kaur remarked that when girls like Aditi excel in sports, it sparks broader social change and brings fresh energy to any field they enter. She lauded Aditi’s dedication to the game. Sports Department Director Dr. Shakuntala Beniwal echoed the sentiment, stating that MDU remains committed to nurturing sporting talent and that Haryana’s daughters make the whole state proud .
Aditi Shyoran, a native of Dubheta village in Sonipat, completed her early schooling at Global Public School, Khanpur, and is currently a Class 10 student at Carmel Convent School, Sector‑9, Chandigarh. She trains at the Chandigarh Administration’s Sector‑16 Cricket Academy, where she is the first female cricketer to secure admission. Over the past four years she has represented at state, national and BCCI Under‑15 and Under‑19 levels, and has served as the youngest captain of Chandigarh’s Under‑19 girls team at the national school level and of the inter‑school state team .
Her accolades include the State Award from the Chandigarh Administration on 15 August 2025, a Republic Day honour from the Haryana government on 26 January 2025, and top‑run and top‑wicket performances in the Inter‑School State Level 2025 Championship. In 2024 she led her side to victory in the UT Cricket Association’s Gully Cricket Tournament (46 girls’ teams), earning Player of the Match in every game; the tournament is recorded in the Asia Book of Records. She also represents Chandigarh in other sports at state and national levels
