Observance Across Hyderabad and Regional Offices
The Armed Forces Flag Day 2025 was marked with solemnity and patriotic zeal at the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Hyderabad, as well as across all ten Regional Sainik Welfare Offices in Telangana on Friday. The commemorative event brought together ex-servicemen, their families, and NCC cadets, reinforcing Telangana’s steadfast commitment to honouring the sacrifices and dedication of the armed forces.
Significance of Armed Forces Flag Day
Since its inception in 1949, the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund has played a crucial role in supporting the rehabilitation and resettlement of ex-servicemen and their families. Each year, the fund provides essential resources to ensure the welfare of those who have served the nation with distinction.
Inauguration by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma
The celebrations were inaugurated by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Fund. During the ceremony, the Governor made a generous personal donation and awarded trophies to the Ranga Reddy and Nizamabad regions for collecting the highest contributions towards the fund, encouraging continued community support.
Contributions from Telangana Leadership
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy contributed Rs 1 lakh to the Flag Day Fund and unveiled the book Brave and Bold, authored by Colonel P Ramesh Kumar. The book showcases the inspiring life stories of 75 gallantry award winners from Telangana, serving as a tribute to their courage, valor, and dedication.
Senior officials, including C V Anand, Special Chief Secretary of the Home Department, and Seshadri, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, also made generous donations, reflecting widespread governmental support for the cause.
Acknowledgment of Supporters
Colonel Ramesh Kumar, Director of Sainik Welfare, expressed heartfelt gratitude to government employees from all categories—gazetted, non-gazetted, Class IV staff, lecturers, teachers, drivers, and secretariat staff—as well as State Bank of India employees for their voluntary contributions year after year.
He further thanked the DDG NCC, group and battalion commanders, and NCC cadets for their steadfast support in organizing the event, highlighting the collaborative spirit that makes Flag Day a success.
