Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will operate about 6,000 special buses to meet the huge demand during the Dasara festival. Buses will run from MGBS, JBS, LB Nagar, Uppal, Aramghar, Santosh Nagar, KPHB, and other places. For the convenience of IT employees, buses to Vijayawada, Bengaluru, and other areas will be run via Gachibowli ORR.
TGSRTC MD VC Sajjanar held a virtual meeting with field-level officials on special buses for the Dasara festival and the facilities for passengers in congested areas. He said there is a possibility of more traffic this time due to the implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme compared to last year’s Dasara and asked officials to take measures so that there are no problems in the movement of passengers.
“TGSRTC management has decided to run special buses from the suburbs of Hyderabad on Dasara to reduce the time loss of passengers in traffic congestion. The availability of special buses will depend on the rush. Arrangements have been made so that the general public does not face any transportation problems during the Bathukamma and Dasara festivals. The special buses will be available for passengers from Oct 1 to Oct 15,” Sajjanar said.
These special buses will have a reservation facility and will run from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to all parts of the state, as well as to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
“We will speak with NHAI officials and take steps to allocate special lanes for RTC buses at the toll plaza. A public address system, along with shamianas, seats, drinking water, and other infrastructure for the convenience of passengers in congested areas such as LB Nagar, Uppal, Aramghar, KPHB, Santosh Nagar, etc., will be set up. For this Dasara, we want to use pollution-free new electric super luxury buses on the Karimnagar and Nizamabad routes,” he added.
