The Odia music industry is in deep mourning following the untimely death of the celebrated singer Humane Sagar. Revered for his soulful and melodious voice, Sagar left an indelible mark on Ollywood and Odia music. He passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 34, due to multi-organ dysfunction syndrome at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Humane Sagar was born on November 25, 1990, into a family steeped in music. Both his parents were singers, and his grandfather composed private albums, giving Sagar a nurturing environment for his musical growth. Despite his strong academic abilities and even cracking the medical entrance exam to start an MBBS degree, he realized early on that music was his true calling. After completing his first year of medical studies, he made the courageous decision to leave his course and dedicate himself entirely to singing.

Breakthrough with Voice of Odisha

Sagar’s career trajectory changed dramatically in 2012 when he participated in and won ‘Voice of Odisha’ Season 2 on Tarang TV. His deep, emotive voice quickly won over the judges and audiences alike, establishing him as a rising star. Among the contestants was Shriya Mishra, whom he later married in 2017. The couple went on to have a daughter, adding a personal milestone to his professional journey.

Rise to Fame in Ollywood

Humane Sagar made his playback singing debut in 2015 with the title track of ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’, composed by Abhijit Majumdar. The song became an instant hit, propelling him into mainstream recognition. Over the years, he lent his voice to hundreds of Odia films, delivering memorable tracks in movies such as ‘Baby’, ‘Abhaya’, and ‘Agastya’.
