Chandigarh:
The four-day 6th Chandigarh State Yogasana Sports Championship 2025-26, organized by the Yogasana Association of Chandigarh, commenced today at the Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23. The championship is being conducted in accordance with the guidelines and rules set by Bharat Yogasana.
The Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony was Dr. Mahendra Singh, Joint Director (Sports), while Dr. M.S. Kamboj graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Both were warmly welcomed by the association’s Joint Secretary, Jitender Singh.
In his address, Dr. Mahendra Singh encouraged all present to incorporate yoga into their lives and emphasized that Yogasana has now attained international recognition. All participants took an oath on this occasion, pledging to uphold the values of honesty and discipline in both the competition and their personal lives.
Association Secretary Roshan Lal informed that the competitions were conducted under the supervision of Competition Manager Ashu Pratap, in collaboration with the panel of judges. On the first day, events were held for senior male and female categories across various divisions.
Additionally, selection trials for the Asmita Women’s City League were conducted in two age categories — under 18 and above 18 years.
Among those present on the occasion were Sudha (Treasurer), Rohit Ghavri, Manisha Sharma, Rajesh Pawar, Prabhakar, Bajinder Kumar, Rupinder Kaur, Mandeep Singh, Kiran Sharma, Deepika Malik, along with other members of the association.
