Vietnamese EV VinFast VF6 and VF7 for India

VinFast VF6 and VF7: Electric SUVs Set to Launch in India

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has officially opened bookings for its upcoming electric SUVs, the VF6 and VF7, in India. Scheduled to launch in August 2025, both models are part of the brand’s aggressive expansion strategy in Asia. Customers can pre-book either SUV with a refundable token of ₹21,000, and deliveries are expected shortly after launch. The vehicles will be assembled at VinFast’s new plant in Tamil Nadu, which supports the brand’s localization plans. Positioned in the ₹25–35 lakh segment, these EVs promise competitive pricing, advanced features, and strong performance aimed at India’s growing premium electric SUV market.

Booking & Launch Timeline

Pre-bookings for the VinFast VF6 and VF7 opened on July 15, 2025, through VinFast showrooms and their website, with a refundable token deposit of ₹21,000. The official launch is set for August 2025, following the inauguration of the Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu CKD assembly plant. VinFast aims to deliver vehicles soon after launch.

Estimated Prices in India

The VF6 is likely to be priced around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), while the VF7 is expected to be priced between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom). Both models are expected to be priced in the ₹20-30 lakh bracket based on their positioning.

Powertrain, Range & Variants

VinFast VF6 (Compact Electric SUV)

  • Assembled in India
  • Single drivetrain (FWD only): 59.6 kWh LFP battery
  • Eco variant: ~174 bhp, 250 Nm, WLTP range ~399 km
  • Plus variant: ~201 bhp, 310 Nm, WLTP range ~381 km
  • Indian spec may offer just the Plus version with claimed ~480 km WLTP range

VinFast VF7 (Premium Mid-size SUV)

  • Larger SUV with more performance and luxury
  • Two drivetrain options: Eco (FWD): 201 bhp, 310 Nm, 70.8/75.3 kWh battery, WLTP range ~450 km
  • Plus (AWD): Dual-motor, 348 bhp / 500 Nm, WLTP range ~431 km
  • Acceleration: ~9.5 sec (Eco), ~5.8 sec (Plus) 0-100 km/h

Color Options

Both VF6 and VF7 will be offered in four paint finishes:

  • Jet Black
  • Neptune Grey
  • Brahminy White
  • Crimson Red

Interior, Features & Safety

Both models come loaded with advanced features, including:

  • 12.9-inch (or 15-inch on VF7 Plus) touchscreen infotainment
  • Head-Up Display replacing traditional cluster
  • Level 2 ADAS suite: Adaptive Cruise, Lane-centering, Blind-spot detection, 360° camera, AEB etc.
  • Over-the-air updates, app-based remote control
  • Panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, vegan leather upholstery
  • Driver’s seat – 8-way power-adjustable and ventilated
  • Safety: minimum 7 or 8 airbags, ESC, other modern safety tech

Local Manufacturing & Support

  • Assembled at VinFast’s Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu: initial capacity of 50,000 units/year, expandable to 150,000
  • Effectively reducing costs and import duties via CKD operations
  • Dealer network: 13 groups, 32 outlets across 27 cities; planned expansion to 35 by year-end
  • Infrastructure partners: RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure for charging & after-sales support
  • First-year sales target revised to around 3,000 units
