Vibrant Baisakhi Festival 2026 Kicks Off at Kalagram Showcasing Punjab’s Rich Folk Culture

The “Baisakhi Festival 2026,” organized by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, commenced on April 12 at Kalagram with great enthusiasm and festive spirit. This two-day grand cultural event is offering a vivid glimpse into Punjab’s rich folk traditions and colorful heritage, drawing large audiences and cultural enthusiasts.
Spectacular Opening Performances
On the opening day, Prof. Major Singh from Sangrur captivated the audience with his soulful Punjabi folk singing. The melodious tunes of traditional folk instruments, combined with the graceful performance of Malwai Giddha, emerged as major highlights of the evening. Various artists also presented an array of Punjab’s renowned folk art forms, adding depth and diversity to the program.
Energetic Folk Dances Steal the Show
Punjab’s globally celebrated folk dances infused high energy into the festival. Enthralling performances of Gatka, Jhoomar, Jindua, Luddi, and Bhangra left the audience spellbound and cheering. The vibrant choreography and rhythmic beats created an electrifying atmosphere, truly reflecting the spirit of Baisakhi.
Celebrating Traditional Art Forms
In addition to dance and music, traditional art forms such as Bajigar performances, Ghoomar, Phag, and Bhand-Mirasi acts entertained the audience and beautifully showcased the diversity of regional folk culture. These performances highlighted the deep-rooted artistic traditions of Punjab.

The event was skillfully anchored by Sanjeev Shaad, whose engaging presentation added to the overall experience. On this occasion, NZCC Director Furkan Khan stated that the festival not only celebrates the joy of Baisakhi but also serves as a powerful platform to connect the younger generation with their rich cultural heritage and traditions.

On Monday, starting at 6 PM, audiences can look forward to captivating Dhaadi folk performances by Shaminder Shammi and Des Raj Lachkhani, promising another evening of cultural excellence.
