Restaurant styled Skillet Chicken Recipe
Skillet chicken is a quick, easy, and flavorful weeknight meal that is perfect for the whole family. It is also a great recipe for beginner cooks, as it is very difficult to mess up.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
Instructions:
- Season the chicken breasts or thighs with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
- Add the garlic powder and paprika to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
- Add the chicken broth to the skillet and bring to a boil.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve with rice, pasta, or vegetables.
Tips:
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in your favorite marinade before cooking.
- If you want to make a creamy skillet chicken, add 1/2 cup of milk or cream to the skillet in step 7.
- You can also add other vegetables to the skillet, such as mushrooms, broccoli, or zucchini.
- If you don’t have chicken broth, you can use water instead.
Variations:
- Lemon Garlic Skillet Chicken: Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder to the skillet in step 7.
- Parmesan Crusted Skillet Chicken: Sprinkle 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the chicken in step 9.
- BBQ Skillet Chicken: Add 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce to the skillet in step 7.
