Sir Creek Tensions: India Sends Clear Message

Posted on October 3, 2025October 3, 2025 By Sorit Chaudhary

Rajnath Singh: “Any Misadventure Will Redraw History and Geography”

New Delhi – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a sharp warning to Pakistan on Thursday over its recent military build-up near the Sir Creek region, a sensitive and long-disputed stretch of marshland along the India-Pakistan border. Speaking at the Bhuj Military Station in Gujarat after conducting the traditional Shastra Puja (arms worship), Singh declared that Pakistan’s actions reveal its “true intentions.”

“Back in 1965, the Indian Army marched with courage up to Lahore. In 2025, Pakistan must remember—the road to Karachi also runs through the Creek,” he stated with resolve, signaling India’s readiness to respond to any provocation.

Strategic Significance of Sir Creek

The Sir Creek area, a 96-kilometer-long tidal estuary located between the Rann of Kutch and Sindh province of Pakistan, remains a contentious zone due to conflicting interpretations of the maritime boundary. This long-standing dispute impacts not only fishing rights but also access to untapped natural resources, including potential reserves of oil and gas in the Arabian Sea.

Crucially, the conflict affects the demarcation of Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) and the broader maritime boundary between the two nations.

India’s Defence Response Under Operation Sindoor

Cross-Border Incursions and Drone Attacks Repelled

Addressing recent hostilities under Operation Sindoor—conducted between May 7 and May 10—the Defence Minister revealed that Pakistan had attempted to breach Indian defences along both the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, from Leh to Sir Creek. These incursions involved waves of drone attacks and even missile attempts.

However, India’s response not only neutralized the threat but also exposed critical vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s air defence system. Singh emphasized that although India possesses superior military capabilities, it exercised measured restraint, targeting only terrorist infrastructures and training camps, rather than escalating the situation into full-scale warfare.

Focused Mission with a Clear Objective

“The goal of Operation Sindoor was not war, but to dismantle the terrorist networks that continue to threaten our national security,” Singh clarified. “I am proud that the Indian Armed Forces accomplished every objective set under Operation Sindoor. However, let me make it clear—our fight against terrorism is far from over.”

Conclusion: A Message of Strength and Strategic Resolve

The Defence Minister’s bold remarks underscore a clear message to India’s neighbor: any act of aggression will be met with firm, decisive, and calculated retaliation. With increasing tensions near Sir Creek and continued terrorist threats, India remains vigilant, emphasizing peace through strength and strategic deterrence.
