₹6.29 Lakh SUV: Renault Kiger NA Variant Sees Massive Demand, Outsells Punch, Sonet & Venue
Renault Kiger NA Petrol Variant Accounts for 60% of Total Sales
August 29, 2025 | Auto News
Renault India’s newly launched 2025 Kiger facelift is creating a major buzz in the compact SUV market, with its starting ex-showroom price of just ₹6.29 lakh. In a surprising twist, it’s not Tata Punch, Kia Sonet, or Hyundai Venue, but Renault Kiger’s naturally aspirated (NA) petrol variant that’s capturing the maximum attention.
According to Renault, the NA petrol variant contributes to 60% of the Kiger’s total sales—an impressive feat considering the strong competition in this segment. Within this, the AMT (automated manual transmission) version holds a significant share, reflecting growing demand for convenience-focused driving at a budget.

Key Competitors: Magnite, Punch, Sonet, XUV 3XO, Venue
The Kiger competes head-on with:
- Nissan Magnite
- Tata Punch
- Kia Sonet
- Mahindra XUV 3XO
- Hyundai Venue
Despite the crowded field, the affordable pricing, practical features, and styling upgrades have made Kiger a hot pick for budget-conscious urban SUV buyers.
Facelift Changes: AMT Reduced, Focus on Turbo Petrol Models
Interestingly, Renault has reduced AMT availability in higher variants of the Kiger facelift. The company stated that this move is intended to encourage customers toward turbo petrol options, which offer 100 PS power output and a more spirited driving experience.
The top-spec, fully loaded variants of the Kiger no longer come with an AMT option. This strategic shift shows Renault’s focus on offering a clearer value proposition in both the budget and performance segments.
Engine & Transmission Options
The updated Renault Kiger continues to offer:
- 1.0L NA petrol engine
- 1.0L Turbo petrol engine
- Transmission choices: Manual, AMT (for NA), CVT (for Turbo)
The CVT automatic transmission in the turbo version is one of the Kiger’s standout features, offering smoother performance compared to rivals that use AMT, DCT, or torque converters.

Renault is not stopping at the Kiger. The company confirmed that it is also working on an update for the Kwid. Additionally, the new-generation Duster is under development and is expected to launch in the coming months, bringing back a fan-favorite SUV in an all-new avatar.
With a highly competitive price tag, practical AMT variants, and an impressive accessory lineup, the Renault Kiger is emerging as a customer favorite in the compact SUV space. The NA petrol variant’s overwhelming demand proves that value-for-money offerings still reign supreme in India’s mass market segment.
