This marks a significant political development in Bihar as Kumar steps down from his position as Chief Minister, with plans for a new government formation already in motion.

Resignation Accepted: Nitish Kumar Steps Down as Chief Minister

Upon his arrival at Raj Bhavan, Nitish Kumar was warmly congratulated by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan for his success in becoming the leader of the NDA legislative party. The Governor then formally accepted the resignation of Nitish Kumar, instructing him to continue in the role of acting Chief Minister until a new government is established.

The resignation comes as part of ongoing efforts to reorganize the state government and form a new leadership structure. Nitish Kumar’s tenure as acting Chief Minister will last until the formation of a new government.

New Government Formation Efforts Accelerate

With Nitish Kumar’s resignation in place, the political focus now shifts toward the rapid formation of a new government. The process gained momentum as Nitish Kumar, after being named leader of the NDA legislative party, made arrangements for his swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to take place on Thursday at the iconic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

As part of the transition process, the Chief Minister submitted a list of NDA (National Democratic Alliance) MLAs to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, further asserting his claim to form the next government in the state. The list included representatives from the various NDA constituent parties.

Leadership and Support from NDA Allies

Nitish Kumar’s leadership was further solidified during the meeting with the Governor. The gathering was attended by the key leaders of the NDA allies, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United), who expressed their full support for Kumar’s leadership.

The meeting, held in the Central Hall of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, also saw the participation of newly elected MLAs from the NDA constituent parties. In an atmosphere of unity, Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party.

BJP and JD(U) Legislative Party Meetings

Before the leadership meeting, the BJP and JD(U) legislative parties held separate sessions. During the BJP meeting, Samrat Chaudhary was elected as the leader, while Vijay Kumar Sinha was named the deputy leader. Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar was re-elected as the leader of the JD(U) legislative party, further cementing his political influence in the state.

Senior Leaders Extend Congratulations

Following Nitish Kumar’s unanimous election as the NDA legislative party leader, senior political figures from the NDA, including key leaders from BJP and JD(U), extended their congratulations. This move highlights the continued cooperation and alliance between these two influential parties in Bihar.
