Veteran Bollywood actress Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14, 2025, at her Mumbai residence at the age of 98, following prolonged age-related health complications. Her departure triggered an emotional wave across the film industry, with heartfelt tributes pouring in from actors, filmmakers, and fans. Among the first to express their grief were Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, both of whom shared the screen with her in the 2019 blockbuster Kabir Singh.

In Kabir Singh, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kamini Kaushal portrayed Sadhna Kaur, the warm and affectionate grandmother of Shahid Kapoor’s character. Widely recognised as India’s oldest living film actress, Kamini Kaushal enjoyed an illustrious career that spanned more than seventy years. With over 90 films to her credit, she debuted in the 1946 classic Neecha Nagar, a film that went on to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival — an honour achieved by very few Indian films.
Her filmography reflects her versatility: from powerful lead performances in Shaheed, Nadiya Ke Paar, Shabnam, and Arzoo, to memorable character roles in Godaan, Namoona, and Biraj Bahu, she remained a dynamic and respected figure throughout changing cinematic eras.
In her later years, she gracefully transitioned into modern cinema, appearing in contemporary films like Kabir Singh and Laal Singh Chaddha, effortlessly connecting with a new generation of moviegoers.
