Writers’ Forum Launched in Chandigarh to Promote Meaningful Literary Expression and Creative Freedom
New Literary Collective Aims to Build an Inclusive Community for Writers Across the Tricity Region and Beyond
Chandigarh, May 27, 2026: In a significant development for the literary community, a new literary collective, Writers’ Forum (WF), was officially unveiled at Novotel Chandigarh with the vision of fostering authentic literary expression, intellectual dialogue, and creative collaboration among writers, poets, critics, and literature enthusiasts.
The launch event witnessed the unveiling of the forum’s official logo by founder and core members, marking the beginning of what organizers described as a democratic and inclusive literary movement for the tricity region and beyond.
Founded on the inspiring slogan, “Where words meet their voice, Where writers meet their tribe,” the Writers’ Forum seeks to create a space where literary merit, originality, and sincerity are valued above popularity, influence, or social standing.
Sudha Aggarwal Leads the Initiative for Authentic Literary Engagement
The forum has been established under the leadership of acclaimed poet and author Sudha Aggarwal, who emphasized the need for a literary platform rooted in respect, openness, and meaningful engagement.
Addressing the media during the launch, Sudha Aggarwal said the initiative was born from the growing need to create a nurturing literary environment where writers can express themselves fearlessly and evolve collectively through dialogue and mutual respect.
“The Writers’ Forum is not merely another literary group. It is a sincere effort to build a creative community where writers can express themselves fearlessly, participate meaningfully, and evolve collectively through dialogue and mutual respect,” she stated.
Sudha Aggarwal is widely known for her poetry collection HIRAETH, launched at Tagore Theatre in 2023. Notably, a visual artwork titled SEHGAL HOUSE was adapted from her poetry collection by The Narrator’s Art Society.
Forum to Encourage Emerging Writers and Democratic Participation
Highlighting the forum’s core objectives, the founder shared that Writers’ Forum aims to:

- Promote freedom of expression without intimidation
- Preserve originality and genuine literary talent
- Provide equal leadership opportunities to members
- Foster respectful literary dialogue and attentive listening
The organization also intends to function on democratic principles, with decisions taken collectively through majority consensus to ensure transparency and equal participation.
Eminent Literary Personalities Extend Support
Several noted literary and academic personalities expressed their support for the initiative during the launch event.
Dr. Manjit Kaur Calls for Meaningful Literary Conversations
Renowned author, literary critic, and former Professor of English Dr. Manjit Kaur highlighted the importance of literary spaces that prioritize substance over superficiality.
“In today’s rapidly changing literary environment, there is a growing need for platforms that value substance over superficiality. The Writers’ Forum seeks to revive meaningful literary conversations,” she said.
Dr. Kaur has previously been honoured with the Literary Excellence Award and also received international recognition in Dubai in 2018.
Dr. Anu Girdhar Emphasizes Creative Equality
Poet, academic, and Professor & Head of Prosthodontics at National Dental College, Dera Bassi, Dr. Anu Girdhar stressed the importance of inclusivity and creative encouragement within literary spaces.
“A literary forum becomes truly meaningful when it encourages participation without hierarchy and inspires individuals to discover their own creative voice,” she remarked.
Dr. Girdhar is the author of five poetry books and recipient of several prestigious honours, including the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Award in 2022.
Seema Sharma and Sanjeev Bansal Highlight Empathy and Originality in Literature
Author and Director–Operations at Amaira Multispeciality Hospital, Seema Sharma, said literature thrives in environments built on empathy, respectful dialogue, and attentive listening.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh-based poet and novelist Sanjeev Bansal reflected on the significance of honesty and lived experiences in literary creation.
“Originality often gets overshadowed in the race for visibility and validation. The Writers’ Forum seeks to remind writers that enduring literature emerges from honesty, depth, and lived experiences,” he said.
Regular Literary Sessions, Workshops, and Poetry Readings Planned
The Writers’ Forum announced plans to organize regular literary activities including poetry readings, workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at nurturing creativity, collaboration, and intellectual growth among writers from across the region and beyond.
With its emphasis on inclusivity, democratic participation, and authentic expression, the newly launched forum aspires to become a vibrant platform for meaningful literary engagement in North India’s cultural landscape.
