According to astrologer Pandit Harihar Pandya, Hanuman Ashtami falls on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Paush. This day is considered highly auspicious for worshiping Hanumanji, believed to remove obstacles and bring peace and prosperity.

Mythological Stories and Historical Significance

Hanuman Ashtami is celebrated to honor the heroic deeds of Lord Hanuman. During the Treta Yuga, Hanumanji is said to have rescued Lord Rama and Lakshmana by defeating Ahiravan in the netherworld. This day marks the victory of good over evil.

Another legend states that after returning from the netherworld, Hanumanji rested in Ujjain, considered the navel of the Earth. Coincidentally, his rest occurred on Paush Krishna Ashtami, which is why Ujjain celebrates Hanuman Ashtami with exceptional fervor.

Devotional Practices and Blessings

Worshiping Hanumanji on this day is believed to fulfill all wishes and grant protection. Visiting Bhajanananda Hanumanji at the Shri Parashuram Temple in Nanakheda Chanakyapuri, Ujjain is considered especially auspicious. Each year, thousands of devotees gather here for darshan and participate in special ceremonies.

Lord Hanuman is also revered for mitigating malefic planetary influences. If planets like Saturn, Mars, or Rahu are positioned adversely in a birth chart, devotees are advised to seek Hanumanji’s blessings.
