Delhi Police Thwarts Assassination Attempt
New Delhi: Noted stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui recently became the focus of a dangerous plot orchestrated by notorious gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar. The duo, offended by Faruqui’s jokes about Hindu deities, allegedly sought to harm the comedian, believing his humor hurt community sentiments. This alarming revelation emerged after Delhi Police’s counter-intelligence unit successfully foiled an assassination attempt on Faruqui in the capital city.
Shooters Apprehended After Violent Encounter
Delhi Police sources disclosed that their counter-intelligence team was alerted about two suspected shooters, Rahul and Sahil, involved in a triple homicide case in Haryana, who were spotted in Delhi. Acting swiftly, police set a trap late at night around 3 a.m. When the suspects refused to stop and opened fire, officers returned fire, injuring them in the legs before arresting them.
Plot to Kill Faruqui Uncovered During Interrogation
Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed they had been instructed by Godara and Brar—currently believed to be abroad—to eliminate Faruqui. The shooters had conducted prior surveillance on the comedian in Mumbai and Bengaluru before arriving in Delhi. Police investigations uncovered that the attackers had previously attempted to strike in Bengaluru, waiting outside an event venue, but Faruqui’s unexpected change of car thwarted the plan.
