Grand Vitara’s Features and Specifications
The Grand Vitara has been co-developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, similar to the Toyota Hyryder. It comes with a mild-hybrid powertrain, powered by a 1462cc K15 engine that generates around 100 bhp at 6,000 RPM and 135 Nm torque at 4,400 RPM. The powertrain is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Notably, this is the only engine in the segment that comes with an AWD option. The strong hybrid variant delivers an impressive 27.97 kmpl mileage, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment.
Hybrid Technology and EV Mode
The Grand Vitara uses dual-motor hybrid technology. The first is a traditional petrol engine, while the second is an electric motor similar to those found in EVs. The system intelligently switches between the two power sources to drive the vehicle. When powered by the petrol engine, the battery also charges simultaneously. The battery can then be used to provide additional power as needed, enhancing performance. In EV mode, the car runs entirely on electric power with zero noise, using energy stored in the battery to power the wheels. In hybrid mode, the engine acts as a generator while the electric motor drives the wheels.
Advanced Features and Comfort
One of the key features in the Grand Vitara is real-time tyre pressure monitoring, displayed directly on the car’s screen. If any tyre loses air, the system alerts the driver automatically. Manual tyre pressure checks are also possible. Other comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera for easier parking and navigation in tight spaces, and full surround-view displayed on the infotainment screen.
Technology and Safety Features
The Grand Vitara is packed with modern technology, including wireless charging, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, adjustable driver seat, and connected car technology. In terms of safety, it features multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESE), Hill Hold Assist, speed alert system, seat belt reminder, parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera, among others.
