Shocking Attack on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta During Public Meet – Attacker Nabbed On Spot
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples across the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was assaulted during a public hearing event held at her official residence earlier this morning. The Chief Minister was immediately rushed to the hospital, and an investigation is now underway to uncover the motive behind this alarming security lapse.
The attacker, identified as Rajesh Sakaria, a man in his 40s from Rajkot, Gujarat, had reportedly posed as a common citizen with grievances during the weekly ‘Jansunwai’ session. Eyewitnesses reveal that he approached CM Gupta under the pretense of submitting documents and, without warning, physically attacked her during their interaction.
Thanks to the swift response of the CM’s security team, the assailant was subdued and detained on the spot. He is currently being interrogated by law enforcement officials to determine whether the attack was part of a larger conspiracy.
Top officials, including Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh, have reached the Chief Minister’s residence to assess the breach and initiate a thorough probe. Sources say the Commissioner himself will oversee the inquiry, which will also examine how the attacker managed to bypass security protocols.
Political reactions have been swift and intense. Senior BJP leader Harish Khurana condemned the attack, demanding a full-fledged investigation into the possibility of a political motive. Meanwhile, Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa hinted at a conspiracy, suggesting that political opponents may be threatened by Rekha Gupta’s rising popularity and strong grassroots work.
From the opposition, AAP leader and former minister Atishi also denounced the attack. “There is no room for violence in a democracy. We may differ in ideology, but physical assaults cannot be tolerated,” she said, urging Delhi Police to take strict action.
As the Chief Minister recovers, concerns grow over the security of public officials and the safety measures in place at such public outreach events. More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
