Internet closed for five hours from 8 am in Jharkhand

Posted on September 21, 2024September 21, 2024 By NewsTodayLive Team

Before the General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) in Jharkhand, the state government has decided to ban internet services for five hours on Saturday and Sunday. A statement issued by the Hemant Soren government said that internet services will be suspended for two days from 8 am to 1.30 pm. This decision has been taken to prevent cheating in the examination.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren discussed with senior officials regarding the preparations for the exam. He has clearly stated that “any kind of negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances” during the exam. He said in a post on X, “If anyone tries to do anything wrong during the exam, we will take strict action against them.”

If the mistake is caught even by mistake then action will be taken

An official of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) said that the exam will be conducted at 823 centers in the state. About 6.39 lakh candidates will appear in it. To deal with the dangers of rigging and paper leak in the exam, the Hemant Soren government has decided and said that if anyone makes a mistake even by mistake, it will be taken seriously.

Trying to deal with the dangers of paper leak

The state government’s objective behind banning internet services is to prevent the candidates from getting access to the released papers through messaging or chats during the exam. Usually, people associated with paper leaks try to circulate the paper through WhatsApp or other messaging apps before the exam. Through this, the Hemant government is trying to ensure that no questions are raised on the results of the paper.

Will there be a ban on phone calls in Jharkhand as well?

The report released by the Jharkhand Home Department said that from 8 am to 1.30 pm on September 21-22, “voice calls and broadband connectivity based on fixed telephone lines may continue. Violation of this order will be prosecuted under section 223 of the Indian Justice Code 2023 and the provisions of the Indian Telegraph Act 1885.”
