Over 620 Theatres to Host Two-Hour Finale
The highly anticipated two-hour finale of Stranger Things Season 5 is set to be screened in more than 620 theatres across the United States and Canada. Show creator Ross Duffer revealed that over 1.1 million fans have already RSVPed to attend the screenings, which span New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Creator’s Message to Fans
Ross Duffer shared his excitement on Instagram, writing, “Over 1.1 million of you have already RSVPed to the finale screenings on NYE and New Year’s Day, and more than 3,500 showtimes across 620+ theaters are already completely full.” Duffer added that he plans to attend a screening in Los Angeles, expressing his gratitude for fans’ support over the decade-long journey of the series.
Big-Screen Release Announcement
Netflix confirmed in October that the final volume of Season 5 would receive a theatrical release. Originally planned for over 350 theatres on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, the screenings quickly expanded to more than 500 locations as reservations opened in early December.
No Box-Office Revenue Expected
According to Deadline, these screenings are not traditional ticketed events. Instead, the seat reservation fee is converted into a concession voucher, meaning the theatrical turnout will not generate box-office revenue. Consequently, these viewers will not be counted toward Stranger Things 5’s official Netflix viewership numbers.
Star-Studded Cast and Global Streaming Release
The finale features beloved cast members Millie Bobby Brown, Jamie Campbell Bower, Joe Keery, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, and Winona Ryder. Fans in India will be able to watch the Season 5 finale on Netflix starting January 1, 2026.
