Health Struggles and Final Days
The veteran leader was admitted to Sparsh Hospital, Bengaluru, on October 23, 2025, with a lung infection. Hospital chairman Sharan Shivaraj Patil stated that Shivashankarappa had been under medical care for 45 to 50 days. Despite the medical team’s efforts, his condition deteriorated due to age-related complications, ultimately resulting in multi-organ failure.
Earlier updates from his son, Horticulture and Mines & Geology Minister S.S. Mallikarjun, had suggested that Shivashankarappa’s condition was stable and he was expected to recover. Unfortunately, his health declined in the following days, culminating in his passing at 6:28 p.m. on December 14, 2025.
