The End of an Era
Released in 2013, Real Racing 3 quickly became one of the most beloved mobile racing games, celebrated for its frequent updates and realistic gameplay. Now, after 13 years of high-speed thrills, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that the game will officially retire in March 2026.
The game was removed from app stores on December 18, 2025, though players can continue to enjoy it until March 19, 2026. In-app purchases have been disabled, meaning no real money can be spent on new cars or in-game currency during the remaining months.
A Final Gesture for Players
As a token of appreciation, EA has released a final update offering all players 1,000 Gold, the Audi S1 e-tron quattro, and the 2023 Rimac Nevera. Players who already own these vehicles will receive extra gold instead.
EA confirmed that Real Racing 3 servers will shut down on March 19, 2026, marking the end of the game’s online functionality. While fans have requested an offline version to preserve their collections, licensing restrictions make this highly unlikely.
In a heartfelt statement, EA said:
“The decision to retire from the race is an emotional one. The last twelve years have been a remarkable journey, and we are grateful for all your love and support. On behalf of all our partners and the game team, thank you!”
Important Information for Players
EA has clarified the following:
- All purchases made before December 18, 2025, will remain usable until March 19, 2026.
- After this date, Real Racing 3 will no longer be playable, and unused in-game currency will expire.
- Players are encouraged to spend their currency before the shutdown.
A Legacy of Innovation
Developed by Firemonkeys Studios and published by Electronic Arts, Real Racing 3 is the successor to 2009’s Real Racing and 2010’s Real Racing 2. Over the years, the game expanded with:
- Over 60 circuits across 28 real-world locations
- Nearly 500 licensed cars from more than 50 manufacturers
- Hundreds of racing series divided into “motorsports” and “road collections”, featuring 196 and 297 cars respectively
Its unique blend of simulation and arcade-style racing made it a standout in the mobile gaming world.
The Future of the Franchise
Fans have speculated about a Real Racing 4, which was previewed in 2021 but later canceled. Many of its features were integrated into Real Racing 3 instead, and no new successor has been announced. It seems that this type of sim-arcade hybrid may no longer align with current mobile game trends.
Saying Goodbye
For dedicated players, now is the time to enjoy the cars and circuits they’ve worked hard to collect. Drive through your favorite series and savor the final moments of a game that has defined mobile racing for over a decade. Perhaps one day, EA might surprise fans with an offline version—but until then, March 19, 2026, marks the finish line.
