Maruti’s First Electric SUV Set to Shake Up the Market – Features, Price, Range, and Launch Details Inside
Maruti Suzuki Vitara is gearing up for a major milestone in its journey toward sustainable mobility with the upcoming launch of its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara. Ahead of its official release, the company is strengthening its after-sales and service network across India to support this major shift. In a significant event at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off the production of this electric SUV. At the same facility, domestic production of lithium-ion cells and electrodes has also kicked off for the first time, marking a major leap for India’s green mobility sector. The first batch of vehicles will be exported from Pipavav Port later this month.
Expected Price Point
Maruti Suzuki has ambitious plans to make the e-Vitara one of the most manufactured and exported electric vehicles from India. According to industry reports, the official pricing is expected to be announced by the end of this year. Once launched, the e-Vitara will go head-to-head with rivals like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Harrier EV, and Mahindra’s XEV 9e. Market estimates suggest that the starting ex-showroom price could be around ₹18 lakh.
Over 500km Range on a Single Charge
The Maruti e-Vitara is expected to launch in three variants – Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Buyers will likely get two battery pack options sourced from BYD: one with 48.8kWh and the other with 61.1kWh capacity. The larger battery pack is said to deliver a certified range exceeding 500 kilometers on a full charge. When it comes to charging, the EV supports DC fast charging, allowing it to go from 0 to 80% in just 50 minutes.
Packed with Next-Gen Features
In terms of features and design, the e-Vitara aims to offer a fully modern and tech-savvy experience. Expected highlights include Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), seven airbags, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a 10.25-inch infotainment display, a 10.1-inch digital driver cluster, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat. With this, Maruti is clearly positioning the e-Vitara not just as a practical EV, but as a well-rounded premium offering.
