The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may start at the end of March. Actually, this tournament is played every year in the months of April and May. But keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections, this year this league can be played between March 22 and May 26. This information has been given by IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal.

Dhumal told news agency ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that initially only the schedule of the first 15 days of this league will be announced. The schedule of the remaining matches will be announced after the announcement of the general election dates. Dhumal said, ‘We are planning to start the tournament from March 22. We are working closely with government agencies. We will be the first to release the initial program. The entire tournament will be held in India.

This time the schedule of IPL will be prepared keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that general elections are to be held between March and May this year. In such a situation, the schedule will be prepared keeping in mind that there should be a balance in the security arrangements during the IPL matches and elections and there should not be any problem in law and order. BCCI wants to organize the league in India only. This time IPL matches will be held in a dozen cities.

A total of 70 league matches and four playoff matches will be held in the IPL this year, including two qualifiers, eliminator and final. Just five days after this two-month long tournament, the T20 World Cup will be played in the West Indies and the Caribbean.

Let us tell you that earlier in 2009, IPL was played completely abroad. It was organized in South Africa due to the general elections that year. Whereas in 2014, due to the Lok Sabha elections, some matches were played in UAE. However, the tournament was held in India despite the general elections in 2019.
