‘Give justice to the female doctor’, former Union Minister Smriti Irani targets Mamata Banerjee

Posted on August 16, 2024 By NewsTodayLive Team

New Delhi: BJP leader and former Union Minister Smriti Irani has targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Smriti Irani said that Mamata Banerjee should stop playing politics of ‘mine and yours’. Mamata government should give justice to the female doctor. Mamata Banerjee should take action against the culprits. She said that the family needs justice, not compensation. She said that when everything is about Mamata Banerjee, then what is the point of protest? Apart from this, Irani said that why did the police try to cover up the matter?

The BJP leader questioned why no one came forward to help the victim. Smriti Irani says, “The question arises that did no one on that floor hear the screams of that woman? Media reports have also revealed that 150 milligrams of semen was found in that woman. Is this the work of a rapist? Was it possible that a person was raping that woman, breaking her legs, breaking her hands, gouging out her eyes, stabbing her chest, stabbing her stomach and that woman was screaming and no one heard her voice? And this entire act was done by a rapist alone? Who is the one because of whom the rapist was assured in the hospital that he can go home after raping? Who is the one who continued the renovation on the same floor of the hospital even after such a heinous crime? What action has been taken so far against that police officer who called this woman’s parents and told them that the girl has committed suicide? Who instructed that officer to tell the girl’s parents that it was a suicide? If that officer is his senior officer, then he would have drawn this conclusion from the police officer.” But how did you get there?…”

Doctors’ strike continues for the fifth day in Delhi

The indefinite strike of doctors in the national capital Delhi continued for the fifth day on Friday over the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. During this time all optional services in hospitals remained suspended. The doctors who were protesting in the premises of their respective hospitals till now gathered outside Nirman Bhawan today and protested by demonstrating. Nirman Bhawan is located near the Parliament in Lutyens Delhi and apart from other departments, the building of the Ministry of Health is also located here. In the presence of heavy police force, the doctors demonstrated on the roadside outside Nirman Bhawan. The doctors, carrying posters and banners in their hands, raised slogans and expressed anger and concern about their safety. The police had put up barricades on both sides of the road in view of the demonstration.

Resident doctor Dr. Rahul said, “A week has passed since this horrific incident. We have been protesting for five days. It is unimaginable that a doctor who saves lives was brutally raped and murdered. Our demands for justice and security measures are not unreasonable. They are necessary.” Several roads were blocked as a large number of doctors joined the protest. Meanwhile, six members of the delegation have gone inside the Nirman Bhawan to meet government officials while the doctors are sitting on the road in protest. The decision to hold a massive protest was taken after a comprehensive joint meeting of representatives of various Resident Doctors Associations (RDA) on the eve of Independence Day. The meeting was attended by RDAs of AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, DDU Hospital, etc.
