A Teaser That Resonates with History
On December 16, coinciding with Vijay Diwas, the makers of Border 2 released the film’s highly anticipated teaser, instantly striking a chord with audiences across India. This date commemorates India’s historic triumph in the 1971 War, and unveiling the teaser on this occasion adds a powerful layer of symbolism. Border 2 emerges as a heartfelt tribute to the bravery, resilience, and sacrifice of Indian soldiers.
Sunny Deol’s Iconic Return Steals the Spotlight
Fans were thrilled as Sunny Deol reprised his legendary war cry, creating one of the teaser’s most memorable moments. A particularly striking scene shows him motivating his soldiers to shout so forcefully that their roar echoes all the way to Lahore, sending chills down viewers’ spines and evoking nostalgia from the original Border.
Behind the War Cry: A Real-Life Inspiration
Director Anurag Singh and actor Varun Dhawan, who plays a central role in the spiritual sequel, revealed that this iconic moment was inspired by an actual incident during the film’s shoot in Leh. Anurag Singh shared, “While shooting in Leh, an instructor at the Army cadet camp urged soldiers to channel more energy. He asked, ‘Aawaz kyun nahi nikal rahi hai tumhari? Yeh awaz kidhar tak jani chahiye?’ Around 100 soldiers responded in unison, shouting, ‘Lahore tak.’”
From Set Inspiration to Cinematic Magic
The team was immediately captivated by the authenticity and intensity of the moment. Varun Dhawan recognized its cinematic potential and strongly advocated for its inclusion. Convincing director Anurag Singh, known for his meticulous approach as seen in Kesari, was a challenge. Varun explained, “Sir usually doesn’t include anything not in the script, but I insisted this real-life moment had to be part of the film.” Sunny Deol’s performance finally sealed its place, leaving everyone, including the trainers, deeply moved.
