Alyssa Healy Issues Bold Statement Ahead of Women’s ODI World Cup, Confident of Tackling All Challenges
Australian women’s cricket team captain Alyssa Healy has expressed strong confidence ahead of the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in the Indian subcontinent. Speaking about her team’s preparations, Healy declared that Australia is ready to face any challenge that comes its way during the tournament.
Australia, the seven-time champion in Women’s ODI World Cup history, will begin its title defense in the tournament starting September 30 in India and Sri Lanka. Alyssa Healy, a veteran wicketkeeper-batter, emphasized that her squad is fully equipped to handle the varied conditions expected in the subcontinent.

“I’m incredibly excited to play in this tournament,” Healy said in a statement to the International Cricket Council (ICC). “The conditions in our group will pose unique challenges, but I genuinely believe we are in a great position to handle them.”
Healy praised the team’s balance and depth, saying, “We have great depth in every department, which makes us confident that we can adapt to any condition thrown at us. I’m really looking forward to leading this team into the tournament.”
Australia recently announced its 15-member squad for the tournament. A major highlight is the return of left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux, who makes a comeback after a long injury layoff. Alongside Georgia Wareham, the spin duo is expected to play a crucial role in the spin-friendly conditions of India and Sri Lanka.
Talking about the host country, Healy added, “India is an amazing place to play cricket. The culture is very different, but the way people embrace cricket and love the game makes it a special experience for any cricketer.”
Before the World Cup, Australia will play a three-match ODI series against India, which will serve as a vital preparation. Healy acknowledged the importance of this series and the rare opportunity to create history.
“I don’t think any team has won back-to-back World Cups in recent times,” Healy said. “There are some big milestones we aim to achieve. Winning a World Cup is special – it’s the pinnacle of our sport. So we know we’ll have to be at our best throughout the tournament.”
