CBSE 2026 Board Exams: Complete Marks & Guidelines

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notice detailing the subject-wise distribution of marks for Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2026. Schedule for Practical, Project, and Internal Assessments

CBSE has announced that all Practical Examinations, Project Assessments, and Internal Assessments for both classes will take place from 1 January to 14 February 2026. Schools are instructed to strictly adhere to this timeline to prevent delays and complications for students at later stages.

Schools Cautioned About Mark Uploading Errors

The board highlighted that errors often occur while uploading marks for practicals, projects, and internal assessments. These mistakes, observed in previous years, have prompted CBSE to remind schools to exercise diligence. Any correction requests arising from negligence during the upload process will not be entertained.

Detailed Subject-Wise Marking Structure Released

To ensure accurate assessment, CBSE has attached a comprehensive subject-wise list in the circular for both Class 10 and Class 12. This annexure provides the following details for each subject:

• Class and subject code
• Subject name
• Maximum marks for theory, practicals, projects, and internal assessments
• Appointment of external examiners (if applicable)
• Provision of practical answer books by the board
• Type of answer book for theory exams

Total Marks and Distribution

Every subject will carry a total of 100 marks, distributed across theory, practical, project, and internal assessment components, as per the subject-specific structure. Schools are urged to review the annexure thoroughly before conducting any assessments.

The notice also clarifies the specifications for theory answer books, including the number of pages, helping schools prepare in advance and prevent logistical issues during examinations.
