Gujarat Tourism Road Show at Chandigarh
August 28, Chandigarh: Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL) organized a travel and tourism road show in Chandigarh on 28th August, 2021, to further boost the tourism sector of the state.
The objective of this road show was to promote various tourist places of Gujarat and its variety of tourism products in the northern part of India. The road show showcased the latest tourism offerings/ products/ forthcoming events of Gujarat to the highly potential tourism market of Chandigarh. As tour operators/agents are the key stakeholders for promoting Tourism, they had been invited to get first-hand information about the latest tourism products of Gujarat.
Gujarat is a tourists’ paradise and has many stunning destinations which offer a visual feast to the tourists. From ruins of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization to historic stepwells, Gujarat has some dazzling locations that are also UNESCO World Heritage sites. These include places like Rani ni Vav, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, Ahmedabad city, Archaeological Remains of Lothal, Dholavira etc.
The road show also showcased some of TCGL’s recent initiatives that have received immense response. TCGL came up with ventures like Seema Darshan which promotes Border Tourism in Gujarat. Seema Darshan project gives tourists a golden opportunity to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony at the border at Nadabet in Banaskatha district. Other tourist places like Lakhpart fort and Gurudwara are also there in the Kutch district. Gujarat has India’s first Dinosaur Museum and Fossil Park at Raiyoli village near Balasinor town of Mahisagar district.
The world’s tallest statue i.e. ‘The Statue of Unity’ is the pride of Gujarat and India, which has become the world famous tourist destination in the state. Tourists in record number are visiting this 182 meter tall statue of Iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Now, 12 new tourist attractions are added in the surroundings of the Statue of Unity, to give a wonderful tourism experience
TCGL organizes fairs and festivals in Gujarat to provide a glimpse of the state’s rich art and culture which include Saputara Monsoon Festival, Kevadia Monsoon Festival, Tarnetar Fair, Navratri Festival, Sasan Gir Festival, Beach Festival at Tithal, Madhavpur and Mandvi, 4 month long Rann Utsav at Kutch, International Kite Festival at Ahmedabad and across the state, etc.
Famous temples of Gujarat like Dwarka, Somnath and Ambaji temples and also the trails and circuits including Gandhi circuit and Buddhist circuit were showcased at the road show. Other tourist attractions like Gir Forest- the only abode for Asiatic Lions, Little Rann of Kutch, Blackbuck sanctuary etc. were showcased during the road show.

During the road show, Shri Jenu Devan, IAS, MD, TCGL said that Gujarat has a versatile and unique collection of diverse arts and crafts. This along with the state’s niche tourism policy, we would like to invite tourists of Chandigarh to visit Gujarat and experience the hospitality of the state.
Many tour operators from Chandigarh along with some Gujarat-based tour operators were presented at the road show.
