Join BJP after breaking 50 years old ties with Congress
Sunil Jakhar has joined the BJP after breaking his family's five-decade-old ties with the Congress. National President JP Nadda gave him the membership of the party at the BJP headquarters. On the very first day of Congress's Chintan Shivir, Jakhar resigned from the primary membership of the party by making an emotional statement.
After joining BJP, Jakhar said that three generations of my family served the Congress party for the last 50 years. Today, I have severed my five-decade-old ties with the Congress on the issues of nationalism, unity and brotherhood in Punjab. Now I will do politics of nationalism, unity and brotherhood in Punjab with BJP. The Congress Disciplinary Committee had recommended the suspension of Jakhar for two years on charges of anti-party activities. Jakhar was then removed from all posts.
