YMCA Total Tennis Championship 2008, Chandigarh (Results Finals)

Chandigarh, 7th December 2008: The YMCA Total Tennis Championship came to an end today at Total Tennis Academy’s YMCA sector 11 Chandigarh premises.

The first title of the day went to Sachin Kumar in the boys under 12 age category when he outplayed third-seeded Paramveer Bajwa of Patiala in straight sets in 40 minutes by 6-1, 6-2.

Second title of the day went to Prinkle Singh of J&K in girls-under-10 age category by defeating Shea Bhasin of Chandigarh in straight sets conceding just one game by 4-1, 4-0.

The boys-under-18 age category title is won by the top-seeded Amardeep Singh of Haryana, when he defeated Aviraj Kamboj of CLTA in two well-fought sets by 6-2, 7-5. Amardeep played great tennis from the baseline in the first set winning the first set by conceding just two games.In the second set, Amardeep was leading 3-0 at one stage but Aviraj came back strongly and took the next five games in a row. But few errors by Aviraj gifted the second set and the title to Amardeep.

The girls-under-14 title went to top seed Madhushahi of Sri lanka. She beat Samridhi Lodha of Rajsthan in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3.

The boys under 16 title went to Aviraj Kamboj when he defeated giant killer Ravisher Singh in just 35 minutes, conceding just two games by 6-0, 6-2.

Mrs. Pariyanka Ahuja gave away the prizes to the winners and appreciated the efforts made by the Total Tennis Academy.
