March 06, Innovation
is the key to challenge economic downturn.
The economic
downturn besides being a challenge has opened many new opportunities for the
corporate leaders to innovate and emerge winners, said Mr. Anil Sharma, Vice
President HR of ITC Welcome Hotels, while addressing the Chandigarh Management
Association here today at their 42nd Foundation Day function.
Speaking
on "Management and Leadership challenges in Turbulent Times",
Mr. Anil Sharma, underlined the need to nurture and supplement
new work culture that is financially and emotionally takes care
of the needs of the work force. He said "If your employee is happy then it doesn't mean that your company
is going to give you more benefits. Your happy employee is like a happy animan in the zoo, who will destroy more than
creating anything. So all that matters is how committed an employee is and not how happy an employee is."
Chief
guest fo the CMA's Foundation Day, Mr. Satish Bagrodia, President,
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chairman of Winsome
Group of Industries, said that the most critical task for a manager
is to retain the best talent, and keep up the morale of their
employees to engage them as partners in meeting the current recession.
Mr.
Anil Kohli, President, Chandigarh Management Association, remarked
that the managers in India are engaged in evolving new techniques
and policies that can empower their people in giving their best
despite the challenging situation.
Earlier Dr. Manoj Sharma, General Secretary of CMA, provided
an overview of the CMA's activities especially the Management Club
formed in association with the British Library last September,
