By Sandeep Juneja

Jagdeep Bains an icon for the young Chandigarh’s Artistic Roller Skating players. Long forgotten artistic and speed roller skating champion. She wants to relive her victories by delivering her game talents to her kids. She was once known for her Artistic Roller Skating skills in the city and now practicing as Senior Advocate in Punjab & Haryana High Courts Chandigarh.

While showing some cuttings from the newspapers of 80s, she recalls the days when she was just 13 and she was amongst the selected probables for the World Speed Skating Championship. She says it was the red-letter day of her life that she was amongst those who were going to represent Chandigarh. She added “Irony, that today even she can’t find a single artistic-roller-skating player in Chandigarh, other than her own kids”. She says that her biggest achievement was to represent Chandigarh in 30-km Chandigarh-Parwanoo open road race and she finished it, while other participants collapsed in the way.

She is now preparing two of her kids, boy named Tahaf and daughter Guntanya, for National School Games. She jumped with joy while telling us that its going to be after 20 years in the history of Chandigarh that someone’s going to represent Chandigarh in Artistic Roller Skating. Children doesn’t adopt this game because there is no funding from the administration for this particular game and it’s a bit tougher than normal skating and skating hockey.
